The meta-owned instant messaging platform Whatsapp has announced to increase in the number of participants in groups to 1024, WABetainfo reported.

Whatsapp has decided to double its group member limit from 512 to 1024. The app has recently added a lot of new features to it including the iMessage-style emoji reactions, increased file sharing limit, new voice note features, and more. But the Meta-owned messaging app is in no mood to slow down.

The announcement to increase the number of group members was made last month, which has now started to be released to beta users on Android, iPhone and desktop, WABetainfo reported.

The group size over WhatsApp is tiny in comparison to its contemporary Telegram, which has up to 200,00 people in groups. Nevertheless, it still is an improvement over the previous limit of 512.

Users with the beta version of the application should already have this feature, while usual users would also get the feature soon.

The limit was extended from 256 to 512 back in June which has now been doubled to 1024.

The messaging application has released some exciting new features in the recent past, including empowering the group admins.

WhatsApp released a feature allowing group chat admins to delete all messages sent from its members. A text reading, “This was removed by an admin” appears when they get deleted.
